BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

Personalised procedures and sympathetic advice

Bedfordshire’s expert surgeon for breast reconstruction

With the lifetime risk of developing breast cancer standing at 1 in 8, a significant number of women will need to undergo partial or full mastectomies or lumpectomies. It is not uncommon for these surgeries to cause physiological distress to the patient. Many women find that a breast reconstruction will help them to feel at ease with their bodies again. Frank Conroy in Bedfordshire has impeccable qualifications in this field of surgery, having completed the esteemed Allergan Breast Fellowship in Vancouver. At your initial consultation, Frank will outline the different techniques and options to ensure that you feel entirely comfortable making this very personal decision.

Implant based reconstruction

Implant based breast reconstruction has a number of advantages. It is often preferred by slimmer women who may not have sufficient extra tissue to transfer to the breast site. It is also a generally more straightforward procedure that avoids creating additional incision points on other parts of the body. Frank Conroy employs a number of techniques including Implant and Acellular Dermal Matrix, Tissue Expansion and Latissimus Dorsi Flap and Implant.

Tissue based reconstruction

Flap or tissue based reconstruction is ideal for women who have sufficient donor tissue available and do not mind a lengthier reconstruction process. Tissue based breast reconstruction creates a more natural looking breast with long lasting results. This procedure is often recommended for patients who have undergone radiation therapy. Frank Conroy is skilled in both TRAM Flap and DIEaP Flap methods.

Breast reconstruction adjuncts

Frank Conroy has considerable expertise in fat grafting, nipple reconstruction and the correction of inverted nipples. These procedures may be carried out in conjunction with a full breast reconstruction or on their own.
